A different approach to HR.

My HR career has taken me across charities, education, start-ups and established organisations, progressing from broad generalist roles to senior positions including Head of HR, People Projects Lead and HR Partner. Along the way, I have supported organisations through everything from everyday people matters and employee relations to culture, organisational change and long-term workforce planning.

I decided to work independently because I wanted the freedom to practise HR in the way I believe it should be delivered: working alongside organisations, getting to know their people and providing thoughtful, pragmatic support rather than simply applying rigid processes or reacting when problems arise.

What I love about consultancy is the variety, the relationships I build and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference. For me, freedom and autonomy mean giving honest advice, adapting my approach to each organisation, and focusing on solutions that create lasting, positive change.

HR should be about more than firefighting.

I believe HR should be about far more than firefighting or stepping in when something has gone wrong. Good HR creates the conditions in which people can work productively, communicate openly and continue to learn and develop. It gives managers the confidence and practical skills to support their people, make sound decisions and address issues early, while helping individuals understand how they can contribute and grow.

My role is not to create dependency, but to share knowledge, build capability and empower people to help themselves. By strengthening these foundations, organisations can spend less time reacting to problems and more time developing their people, improving performance and moving forward with confidence.

“Angela’s initiative and understanding showed that HR issues aren’t always solved by simply following the rule book.”

My Values

Pragmatic

I take the time to understand each organisation, its people and the circumstances surrounding an issue before recommending a way forward.

Rather than making HR more complicated than it needs to be, I focus on proportionate, workable solutions that balance good practice with what the organisation is trying to achieve.

Fair

Fairness means listening carefully, considering different perspectives and treating people with respect, even when difficult decisions need to be made. It is not about treating everyone identically, but about applying sound principles, following a fair process and taking individual circumstances into account.

I help organisations reach balanced decisions that are both legally sound and human.

Consistent

Trust is built by doing what you say you will do. I demonstrate consistency by being dependable, communicating clearly and providing considered advice that organisations can rely on.

I apply the same care and professional judgement to every piece of work, while helping managers establish clear expectations and approach similar situations consistently. Clients know that I will be honest, responsive and there when they need support.
